Copper Ionization vs. Other Pool Systems

How can you possibly sanitize your pool without chlorine?!  For most pool owners, it’s all you’ve ever known.

On the other hand, the thought of switching to alternative system can be overwhelming – and a little scary. We’d like to put your mind at ease – by showing you the pros and cons of some other systems.

Ultraviolet (UV) Ozone Generator / Corona Discharge Ozone Generator

PROS:

Strong oxidizers, and naturally occurring.

Reduces contaminants that combine with chlorine, thus reducing previous levels of required chlorine.

CONS:

Primary sanitation occurs only in pool’s plumbing and filter.

Cannot sanitize fast enough to kill all algae and contaminants in pool.

Chlorine reduction is minimal.

One of the least economical systems for a swimming pool.

Baquacil® and SoftSwim®

PROS:

Both have proprietary chemistry.

Both heavily marketed through pool stores as alternative to chlorine.

Effective in eliminating algae and other contaminants

CONS:

Sometimes referred to as being a peroxide-based chemistry.Polyhexamethylenebiguanide (PHMB) is actually the active ingredient.  A 27% peroxide is used as a shock for clarity

THESE ARE THE MOST EXPENSIVE ALTERNATIVE TO CHLORINE.
